Ingredients

  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten*
  • Sugar
  • 1/2 cup white rum
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • Crushed ice

To decorate:

  • Cocktail cherries
  • Pineapple cubes
  • Orange slices

Directions

Dip the rim of tall glasses into the egg whites, and then the sugar. Put the rum, Triple Sec, and juices into a cocktail shaker. Shake to mix. Fill the glasses with the ice and pour the cocktail over it. Decorate with cherries, pineapple, and/or orange slices, and drink with a straw.

* Raw Egg Warning

Food Network Kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly cooked eggs due to the slight risk of salmonella or other food-borne illness. To reduce this risk, we recommend you use only fresh, properly refrigerated, clean grade A or AA eggs with intact shells, and avoid contact between the yolks or whites and the shell. For recipes that call for eggs that are raw or undercooked when the dish is served, use shell eggs that have been treated to destroy salmonella, by pasteurization or another approved method.

    This drink is absolutely awesome. The past two reviewers who gave this recipe one star should test a recipe before making "yuck" or "I think I'm going to vomit" comments. Ina did not incorporate egg whites into the recipe; it was only used for the rim of the glasses as a "glue" for the sugar. She didn't actually use them in the recipe. It was not nasty at all. If you have trouble using egg whites, just dip the rims in water or honey and it will have the same effect.
