Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, cut into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds, lightly toasted
  • 8 ounces cellophane noodles, soaked in hot water until tender
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 4 cups snap peas, steamed

Directions

Coat a stove-top grill pan or griddle with cooking spray and set over medium-high heat to preheat.

In a shallow dish, whisk together soy sauce, honey, molasses, ginger, garlic, liquid smoke seasoning, and black pepper. Add chicken strips and turn to coat. Place chicken on hot grill and cook 5 to 7 minutes, until cooked through, turning once during cooking. Remove chicken from grill pan and roll in toasted sesame seeds.

Drain cellophane noodles and toss with cilantro and sesame oil. Serve chicken with noodles and snap peas.

Serve 4 of the chicken breast halves (about 6 strips per serving) with this meal, with all of the noodles and snap peas, and reserve extra chicken for another meal.

    question about this recipe.

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
I wonder if this could just be baked in the oven in the soy mixture minus the liquid smoke. instead of grilled?

Nothing different from a regular "grilled chicken" recipe....

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
I thought this recipe was very boring. Maybe I had the wrong idea before I made it- I thought this was going to be similar... to an asian styled teriyaki chicken... it tasted like chicken you'd throw on the grill-nothing special! :( I actually marinaded my chicken for about 30 minutes instead of just dipping them into the mix as she suggested (don't see how you would have had ANY flavor from a brief meet). After it was grilled, none of the sesame seeds would stick...that was kind of pointless. Also, I didn't use cellophane- I used jasmine rice. I love jasmine rice, but again, no flavor in using the cilantro or sesame oil.... I was disappointed and surprised by some of the more positive results from others. Not for me! Read more

    A few Adaptions

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I am not a fan of cellophane noodles so I substituted Ramen Noodles. You can either drain off most of the liquid and add the... included oriental seasoning packet or boil off the reserved marinade and toss the noodles in that. I did not use the liquid smoke. I had cut the chicken into chunks and let sit in the marinade for close to an hour. Then stir fried and finished with sesame seeds. Put on top of Ramen Noodles and garnished with chopped green onions and slivered almonds. Tasty!Read more

The sauce is can be used on other meats

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
My husband and I had this for dinner last night. We talked about how great the sauce tasted. We are going to try it on... salmon as well as beef. We didn't make the noodles. The snap peas were okay, I added some vegetable supreme seasoning to them after they were cooked.Read more

    Quick, Tasty & Family-Friendly

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
My 8-yr old was watching the show, saw the recipe and couldn't wait to make it. We had it for dinner the same night! We... were able to work together and make a tasty meal - Quick & Easy. We weren't thrilled with the cellophane noodles, however, and when we make it again -- which we will! -- we'll use rice instead. The whole family loved it.Read more
