Ingredients

  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 serrano chiles, sliced thinly
  • 1 big handful fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Halve and pit the avocados. Scoop out the flesh with a tablespoon into a mixing bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork, leaving them somewhat chunky. Add the remaining ingredients, and fold everything together to gently mix. Lay a piece of plastic wrap right on the surface of the guacamole so it doesn't brown and refrigerate 1 hour before serving.

    Great, if spicy!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I just got through making this recipe. I must have picked mutant limes because the amount of lime taste is SHOCKING with 3... juiced limes. To counteract the shock of the lime taste, I put in 2 chopped vine-ripened tomatos. I would highly recommend 3 since they are a smaller tomato. The result was a great spicy dip with just the 2 tomatos. I have a feeling if the third were added it would mellow out the spice and lime a bit further. Great guacamole otherwise! Read more

Take it to your superbowl party, and it will disappear.

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made this for the superbowl party I went to last year. Huge hit. The only thing I did was I added 2 chopped up tomatoes.... Other than that, I followed the recipe to the letter. And i'm making it again this year.Read more

Key words here "HOME MADE ULTIMATE GUACAMOLE"

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Yes, it is easier to buy guacamole from the grocer section in your store than it is to buy 2 avacados, mash 'em up with a... fork, throw some chopped cilantro in, squeeze a lime, oh yea and a dab of garlic and some onion.. ... or you can most certainlly go to the grocery store a few times, go thru about 4 different kinds of processed "green goo", however many days old, till you find one that that is somewhat palatable. Serve that to your guests and watch their faces. Food Network is a cooking website. Therefore, they have recipes on here for those of us who care enough to put a little effort into presenting something delicious to our friends and family. Yes, there are hundreds of great products in the grocery stores, but if you are gonna bash this recipe and say it's easier to buy something pre-made, then.go do it on that grocer's website. We don't need the endorsement.Read more

    better yet?

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Why not make it one step easier using your favorite "store-bought" salsa with Fresh Avacado then adding the fresh cilantro... with fresh lime. Faster and yummy! Tastes like you've put together the receipe from scratch in the kitchen yet just one minute to make.Read more

    Great guac recipe. Very flavorful

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This recipe is great! Most commercial guac is so flavorless (im guessing to it doesnt offend anyones palate but I like lots... of garlic, peppers and onions!). I leave out the tomatoes as I don't like them and add more garlic then it calls for. I would argue that it takes longer than 15 minutes to prepare (as I dont have a food processor and cutting up all the ingredients takes awhile) but I enjoy preparing the dish to rave reviews. Served best with Lime Torilla chips after being chilled for at least 20 minutes. Read more
