Sunny is a Food Network chef, best-selling author and co-host of The Kitchen.
Sunny Anderson Bio
Sunny Anderson is an accomplished cook, a television host, an inventor and a best-selling author. She made her first appearance as a guest on Emeril Live in 2005 before going on to host her first show, Gotta Get It, a food gadget show that premiered in 2007. Since then, Sunny has hosted several successful Food Network shows, including oldies-but-goodies Cooking for Real and How’d That Get on My Plate? and her latest gigs on The Kitchen and BBQ Brawl.
Sunny was born in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her father served in the United States Army, which led Sunny to move around the world — and get a taste of international cuisine — during her formative years. In 1993, Sunny graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas, and then promptly followed her father’s footsteps and enlisted in the US Air Force at just 18 years old.
She earned the rank of senior airman and worked as a military radio host during her time overseas. Sunny moved back to San Antonio and worked for Air Force News Agency radio and television until her honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1997. By 2001, Sunny’s work led her to work as a radio personality in several US cities, eventually making New York her home. She worked as a local NYC radio personality from 2001 to 2003 before leaning into her love of cooking and opening her first catering company, Sunny’s Delicious Dishes, in 2003. Just two years after starting her culinary career, Sunny made her first appearance on Food Network as a guest on Emeril Live in October 2005.
Sunny published her New York Times best-selling cookbook, Sunny’s Kitchen: Easy Food for Real Life, in 2013. You can try her recipes at Citi Field — run, don’t walk, to Section 102 to grab a plate of Sunny’s comfort classics from Sunny’s All-American Kitchen. Sunny also married her love of football and food and invented the world’s only inflatable snack stadium: the Infladium.
Sunny relocated from Brooklyn, New York, to the Pennsylvania countryside in 2016, where she enjoys quality time with her furbabies and vegetable gardening.
