Ingredients

4 cups confectioners' sugar

1 teaspoon ground cardamom

2 cups Dutch-process cocoa powder

2 teaspoons vanilla powder

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Directions

  1. Sift all the ingredients for the Spiced Hot Cocoa mix into a large bowl. For each serving, stir 1⁄4 cup mix into 1 cup hot milk. Store the remaining mix in the jar.

It's not a mistake; it's so you get the layered effect in the jar. It's the perfect amount since it makes 24 cups of cocoa.<br /><br />I made this for about 5 peoples gifts this year (tasted it first!) and it is a hit. So good!<br /><br />I did make one modification. I didn't have time to hunt for vanilla powder so I bought vanilla beans and put 2 beans worth into it.
