Hemingway Daiquiri

  • Level: Easy
  • Yield: 1 serving
  • Total: 20 min (includes chilling time)
  • Active: 10 min
Forget everything you think you know about daiquiris. The original daiquiri is not something you get out of a slushy machine, but a rum drink with the perfect marriage of bitter citrus and sweet cherry. Sometimes you can add an egg white for frothiness, but you can never go wrong serving it straight up. A classic daiquiri is a sipping drink and is made to take time to enjoy.

This is very refreshing. I knew my limes were 'full bodied' and I cut back the lime juice a bit. This reminded me of a very smooth Margherita, but much smoother and sophisticated. It is easy to make. Easy to drink. I always use freshly squeezed or not--from-concentrate juices...the latter have slightly less brightness and flavor, but a good convenient option. I also freeze my juice in 8 ounce blocks and thaw when needed which saves money, too.
