Frozen Hurricane

This iconic cocktail originated from the legendary Pat O’Brien’s Bar in New Orleans, but you can find them all over the Crescent City. It's fruity and juicy and packs a real punch with two kinds of rum! The original version is served on the rocks, but I love a frozen drink, so I like to do a blended version. Watch out for the brain freeze!

3 ounces fresh orange juice

3 ounces white rum

2 ounces grenadine

2 ounces frozen passionfruit pulp (I suggest Goya), thawed

2 ounces pineapple juice

2 ounces spiced or dark rum

4 maraschino cherries, for garnish

2 orange slices, for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine 3 cups of ice with the orange juice, white rum, grenadine, passionfruit pulp, pineapple juice and spiced or dark rum in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into hurricane glasses and garnish with the cherries and orange slices.
