Drake is taking an interesting approach in an effort to get consumers to support some of his favorite restaurants across the country. The “Hotline Bling” rapper has partnered with Postmates and is offering users a chance to get their hands on one of his new candles from his Better World Fragrance House line.
Here’s how it works: Postmates users must order takeout from one of Drake’s go-to eateries in New York City or Los Angeles and spend a minimum of $50. If they meet that criteria, a Better World Fragrance House candle will automatically be included with the food order.
This promotion, which runs from Friday, May 7, through Sunday, May 9, while supplies last, is only valid for orders from NYC’s STK Downtown and Midtown locations, Tao Uptown and Midtown, Lavo, Nobu Fifty Seven, and Nobu Downtown. In Los Angeles, Postmates customers can order from Nice Guy, Craig's, BOA Steakhouse West Hollywood or Santa Monica, Nobu LA or Malibu, Katana, TAO, or Blue Ribbon Sushi for a chance to snag one of Drake’s candles.
This promo comes just before Drake is set to formally launch his scented candle range on May 9 — Mother’s Day. According to the Better World Fragrance House site, there are five different candles in total: Carby Musk, Williamsburg Sleepover, Sweeter Tings, Good Thoughts and Muskoka. However, only the latter four scents will be available via Postmates.
While Carby Musk apparently smells just like the Canadian star, the other four scents are inspired by specific moods or locales. For example, according to online retailer Revolve, Williamsburg Sleepover is a “genderless and luminous floral-woody musk fragrance that captures the essence of an urban garden,” while Sweeter Tings is described as “an addictive and nostalgic Oriental Gourmand fragrance with the subtleties of comfort and goodness.”
Good Thoughts, on the other hand, is “fresh” and “floral” and, as its name suggests, was formulated to evoke “a captivating positive energy.” Last but not least, Muskoka, which is named for a popular vacation spot in Ontario, is an “Oriental woody fragrance that emulates the smoldering warmth of burning woods, golden embers.”
As Drake fans may know, the reported raisin mac and cheese fan has been dropping hints about his highly anticipated candle line for months. InStyle notes that the first clues came in June 2020, when the Grammy winner took to his Instagram Stories to share a snapshot of four navy blue candles with handwritten gold branding. He captioned the post, "@betterworldfragrances Available soon cc:@ovoniko."
