The Latest Sweethearts Conversation Hearts Are Inspired by Classic Love Songs
Romantics will be able to find 21 new phrases on the Valentine’s Day staples.

There are candies and treats that are always associated with certain holidays. And while a candy like Peeps will always conjure up thoughts of the Easter season, Sweethearts Candies are undeniably tied to Valentine’s Day.
These candies have been around for a century, and have always been about the “conversation” of love, with phrases like “BE MINE” and “TRUE LOVE,” but isn’t it possible over the decades that conversation has changed just a bit?
Love changes with time, and that’s why the latest generation of these heart-shaped candies will include lyrics from famous love songs from across the past few decades.
The classic sayings are not going away, but this season they’ll be joined by 21 new phrases inspired by love songs, including classics like “LUV ME TENDR” and “SUGAR SUGAR.”
“There have been hundreds of sayings featured on Sweethearts Candies over the years, but after a year unlike any other, we knew we wanted to add a high note to the season,” said Diana Eschhofen, Spangler Candy’s Director, Corporate Communications, in a press release. “Opening or exchanging a box of Sweethearts uniquely encourages connection in a way that sparks feelings of cheer, happiness and nostalgia. With this in mind, we came up with the idea to create sayings inspired by our favorite heart-themed songs over the decades, because what better way to bring a smile to someone’s face than being reminded of a melody.”
These new Sweethearts Candies will be available nationwide in both single boxes or in five-count packs, in flavors including Wintergreen, Orange, Lemon, Blue Raspberry, Banana, Grape and Cherry.
Love feels different this year, for sure, with social distancing and a whole lot more virtual connecting than physical closeness for many. A little sweet nostalgia just may be good for everyone’s spirits.
