The food space is filled with too many trends to count, but there are some that hold a little more weight than most. Sustainable eating and cooking — whether it be what utensils, food storage containers and shopping bags you use or the push to eat less meat — is certainly a trend worth jumping in on. And to make the latter more accessible, Blue Apron has teamed up with Beyond Meat to help you swap out some of your weeknight proteins.

To start, Blue Apron is offering Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger, the deceptively similar, plant-based replica of a traditional beef patty. Beyond Meat founder and CEO, Ethan Brown, said in a press release that, “The Beyond Burger delivers the delicious taste, texture, and juiciness of a beef burger but comes with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of consuming plant-based meat.” If you sign up for the two-serving meal plan service, you can order Blue Apron's Jalapeño & Goat Cheese Beyond Burgers with Corn on the Cob the week of August 26. After that, you'll be able to find more Beyond Meat menu items including a Monterey Jack Beyond Burger, Guajillo Beyond Beef Enchiladas and Korean-Style Beyond Burgers.

There are countless articles and reports discussing why a more plant-based lifestyle is good for you and the environment, but the bigger issue is how you can actually make those changes in your current life. And since cooking with an unfamiliar ingredient can be overwhelming, this is a great way to give the plant-based-meat trend a try with some step-by-step guidance.

According to the same press release, Blue Apron will continue to incorporate Beyond Meat into its upcoming menu options through the end of the year. “We know a growing number of customers are interested in plant-based proteins, whether as an alternative to meat, a desire to explore a new ingredient, or an opportunity to make more sustainable food choices,” said Linda Kozlowski, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Apron. “We are proud to introduce Beyond Meat products to our menu.”
