Ingredients

  • Kosher salt
  • 4 bunches broccolini (1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup good olive oil
  • 11/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lemon

Directions

In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and 2 tablespoons salt to a boil. Remove and discard the bottom third of the broccolini stems. If some stems are very thick, cut them in half lengthwise.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, garlic, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and the pepper. When the water comes to a full boil, add the broccolini, return to a boil, and cook over high heat for 2 minutes, until the stalks are just tender. Drain well and place in a large bowl. Pour enough dressing over the broccolini to moisten and toss well. Splash with a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice, sprinkle with salt, and serve warm or hot.

    Good, but...

FYI, the combination of the mustard and the lemon juice made this too sour, so I had to add a bit more balsamic vinegar for... my taste. Also, the original was a bit too oily, so the extra baslamic made it just right. I would say I doubled the amount of balsamic vinegar. Read more

Love this recipe. My kids ate all their broccoli and asked for more. My husband loved it too. It's easy to make too!

I made this for the adults. I made their broccolini with butter and salt. They didn't like it so I gave them some of the... dressing and they loved it! I am making a second helping of broccolini for my 4 year old right now.Read more

It's very good ! 1- 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt or sea salt is too much. 1- teaspoon will be just fine. I will aways make... again. Very flavorfulRead more

This is the best recipe for broccolini out there. I LOVE it. Great taste!! I cooked my broccolini slightly longer than the... recipe because I like it with less bite. I don't find this recipe bitter or too salty at all. Very flavorful.Read more

Simple and delicious and not salty at all!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
How could this recipe be too salty? Are you using table salt? If so, then there's the problem! Kosher salt is the key to... use, here, folks! Do you season a little and then taste? I don't like over salted food, either. Switch to kosher salt (or sea salt), and you'll learn what I finally did. It makes ALL the difference in the world. As for the recipe-- I love broccolini and balsamic...so how can Ina go wrong. Delish, as always. Again.. go easy on the seasoning, and taste. Adjust it till it's where you like it. Read more
