About the show

Kardea Brown shares down-home, Southern recipes from her South Carolina kitchen. The cook and caterer was born and raised on the sea islands of Charleston, the heart of all Southern cooking, and learned to cook in her grandmother's kitchen. These days, she takes generations of family recipes and makes them her own as she cooks for family and friends at her Sea Island home.

Kardea Brown

Kardea Brown is a contemporary Southern cook born in Charleston, South Carolina. She is of Gullah/Geechee descent, a term used to describe a distinct group of African Americans living in the coastal areas of South Carolina and Georgia who have managed to preserve much of their West African language, culture and cuisine. Kardea created the pop-up New Gullah Supper Club, where the menu pays homage to the dishes her grandmother and mother passed down to her. She is host of Food Network’s Delicious Miss Brown and has appeared on Beat Bobby Flay, Chopped Junior, Cooks vs. Cons, Family Food Showdown and Farmhouse Rules.

Kardea Brown makes a meal with her aunt TC to treat TC's fellow church volunteers to a low-country feast. First, Kardea cooks up her delicious BBQ Smoked Turkey Wings. Grandma's Special Supper

For her grandma's birthday, Kardea Brown is throwing a beautiful dinner at one of her grandma's favorite spots, the historic Angel Oak Tree, which is estimated to be 400-500 years old. Kardea starts off with Crab Stuffed Lobster Tails and a Blender Bearnaise, a quick kitchen hack to make a sauce with shallots, wine and tarragon -- the perfect complement to the lobster. Then, she makes a cheesy Tomato Pie with Cornmeal Crust and Kardea's Easy Entremet, a layered dessert that looks fancy but is easy to whip up.

Then, movie night can't have just one sandwich, so Kardea throws down her Shrimp Burgers with Avocado Tartar Sauce and a side of Fried Pickles with Chipotle Ranch. And since no movie is complete without the popcorn, Kardea makes yummy Candy Bar Popcorn Balls for dessert.
