Snack Mix Brownies

Ingredients

Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan and parchment

One 18-ounce box brownie mix, such as Duncan Hines (plus required ingredients) 

2 cups snack mix, such as Traditional Savory Chex Mix 

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line the pan with parchment paper and spray again.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions. Gently fold in 1 cup of the snack mix. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread to the edges. Sprinkle the top of the batter with the remaining 1 cup snack mix.
  3. Bake until the brownies are set, the surface is crackly and the snack mix is golden brown, 35 to 40 minutes. Let the brownies cool completely before slicing.

I listened to the previous reviews and opted to only put the Chex mix on<br /> top (none mixed in) and it was very tasty!  I didn't think the rye <br />chips would be a good match with the brownies, so I picked them out and<br /> used as many pretzels as I could find, then sprinkled on the Chex and <br />bread sticks.  I'm only giving it 4 stars because you do need to tweak <br />the recipe, but do try it this way.  I also mixed some peanut butter <br />chips into the batter and swirled in some peanut butter.  I would <br />definitely make this again with the changes.
