At his bakery, which has roots in the original Holland, the buttermilk waffle mix is made from scratch every morning, with batter pressed to order, so each guest gets one that's hot and tender. The toughest part is choosing what toppings to add: caramelized bananas, fresh strawberries or deBoer's cinnamon-flecked Dutch apples.
