The Peaceful Restaurant specializes in Guy’s faves – noodles and dumplings. Their cumin lamb stir-fried noodles and pan-fried pork dumplings are bursting with flavor. But you have to try their Peaceful Beef Rolls – five-spiced beef rolled in a crispy green onion flatbread with sweet hoisin sauce.

The husband-wife duo that runs Jethro’s Fine Grub takes comfort food to a whole new level. Guy is a fan of the pulled pork sandwich, which has a “deeper than roasted pork flavor” that leaves him impressed. This tasty pick is slow roasted and served open faced with apple-fennel slaw on a warm bun.

When people hear Falconetti’s, they think homemade gourmet sausages. The restaurant makes up to 15 different kinds of sausages without any preservatives or fillings. Guy tried the Chicken Thai hot dog flavored with coconut, curry and ginger, and dressed with Asian vegetables, sesame oil and hoisin.

Bizzarro prides itself on its locally sourced seasonal menu and whimsical atmosphere. Guy licked his plate clean after diving into the linguini and clams with house made pancetta. The elk Bolognese was "monster tender" and not gamy at all. Customers also enjoy the puttanesca and organic lamb shank.

New York chef Brian O'Conner trained in classic cuisine but ended up falling for fried chicken. The dishes at Bok A Bok Fried Chicken & Biscuits highlight his love for the bird. The Soy Sesame Garlic Sandwich is fried up until potato chip crispy, topped with sweet soy sauce and arugula and served on a roll spread with lemon aioli.

The Rosedale Diner in Toronto may look unassuming from the outside, but the menu is an eclectic mix of Middle-Eastern dishes, Canadian favorites, like poutine with duck, and Asian-style spare ribs (which are broiled, not smoked). Guy sums up the ribs in three words: ''sticky and righteous.''

Guy ventures to The Ace for the infamous Christmas burger that’s like a bite of the perfect holiday feast. At the core of the turkey patty is stuffing made from scratch. After it gets roasted in the oven, the burger goes on a toasted bun with some mayo, lettuce, and cranberry compote.

Looking for Jewish soul food in Toronto? Guy heads to Caplansky’s. The brisket is hand rubbed, house smoked and hand cut to create a knockout smoked-meat sandwich. Everything at Caplansky’s is small batch and old school.
