Star Recap: There's a Lot to Love (and Hate) About Live Television

Yes, there were two challenges in this episode, but the biggest OMG-what-just-happened moments came from the Star Challenge, which brought the finalists into their first forays of Live TV. There's no going back now. A few competitors rose to the occasion here and brought their A-games, both in terms of talking in front of a studio audience and demoing their dishes. And then there were those who didn't. Join us as we look back on the highs and lows.

From teammates to opponents in a matter of seconds — that's the nature of the Star beast. We knew right away that this challenge would be interesting.

We've seen before that Bobby and Giada are quick to show their true feelings in their facial expressions, and this week was no different. Case in point: Bobby was simply not having it today.

And on the flip side, Bobby and Giada were thrilled with Jason's stellar performance.

Oh, Addie. We get it — Matthew was the equivalent of a backseat driver here during her demo. But her snarky quips, which she mumbled during the demo and in full view of the audience, weren't ideal. Awkward.

So, speaking of awkward. Cao's and Amy's demos were pretty uncomfortable to watch. We're not sure which of Amy's blunders was the worst. Was it her blender mishap? Her inappropriate jokes? Her strangely sloppy bite? All in all — yikes.

For Cao, things got out control both literally and figuratively when she 1) stopped talking and 2) splattered avocado liquid around the kitchen. Stage fright is real, and we get that. This just wasn't her moment.
