This Restaurant Gadget Should Definitely Be on Your Christmas List This Year
You'll never drink wine the same way again.
Everyone likes options, especially when it comes to wine. The problem is that one glass of a bottle here and there can lead to lots of wasted vino. Restaurateurs know this and are pros at finding cost-saving solutions to wasted food and beverages, including wine. It's why the Coravin Wine Preservation Systems are a hit with bar programs and wine lovers alike. (They're so popular, in fact, that the Coravin Limited Edition II system sold out on Amazon on Black Friday.)
The Coravin Model Two runs about $100 cheaper and is the most popular system accross the board, according to a rep for the company. The preservation system, which also comes with two argon capsules, a needle cleaner and a carrying case, allows bartenders and sommeliers to pour anywhere from a taste to a full glass of wine without ever corking the bottle. This comes in handy most often for rare or collectible bottles that come with a hefty price tag (think upwards of $150 per bottle or pour).
"I own 2 of them and use them in my restaurants for pouring single glasses of high end wines so we can move wines like Opus One without having to sell entire bottles...we have doubled our wine sales since spending the money on these amazing tools," said one Facebook user.
Others echoed his sentiments saying they also have a Coravin system in their restaurants and have found it to be incredibly useful. Plus, it's pretty simple to use — we tested it ourselves. The system clamps to the neck of the wine bottle and uses a surgical grade needle to puncture the cork which then allows wine to flow through the system and into a glass with the push of a button. Once the needle is removed, the cork naturall reseals to prevent any oxidation, preserving the wine for years to come.
Thankfully, the Limited Edition II has been restocked on Amazon and the Model Two is also available. Order it soon to get it in time for Christmas.
