Besides their top-tier cooking skills, chefs Alex Guarnaschelli and Eric Adjepong both have a knack for hosting on and off television screens. Food Network Magazine recently sat down with both stars ahead of the season three premiere of their hit show Alex vs. America to talk about their go-to entertaining tips for springtime gatherings large and small. Here's everything they had to share!

Let the Food take Center Stage: "I place small plates of berries and fruits out, so the tablescapes are edible along with the meal," says Alex.

Make the Most of Fresh Flowers: "There is no better sign that spring has sprung than fresh flowers that look and smell amazing!" says Eric.

Plan Ahead with Pre-Mixed Drinks: "It takes the pressure off mixing lots of individual cocktails as guests trickle in," says Alex.

When It Comes to Appetizers, You Can't Beat Crostini: Both Eric and Alex agree that crostini makes an easy and stress-free passed party app. Eric likes to use a mix of whipped ricotta cheese and crunchy walnuts while putting his crostini together, while Alex ops for a savory mix of creamy brie, cracked pepper and fresh herbs like thyme, parsley and tarragon. Check out both recipes below:

Have an Open Seating Policy: "I like to allow my guests to sit where they please and organically set the tone for the meal," says Eric. When you’re hosting, "there should always be a healthy mix of control and spontaneity."

Keep Some Bowls Covered: "That invites people to open them up and see what surprises lie inside," says Alex.

Throw in an Ice-Breaker: "Ask guests what their greatest childhood food memory is," says Alex. "That gets the conversation centered on the food and the communal feeling of eating together."

Catch Alex and Eric on the season three premiere of Alex vs. America on Sunday, April 16th only on Food Network.
