This decades-old restaurant got an injection of spirit and flavor when Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi took over after years in the fine-dining world. Their influence is evident in the impressive — but affordable — wine list. The menu, on the other hand, is pure Roman comfort food. The kitchen has a flair for fried starters, which should be followed up with pasta like spaghetti alla gricia (with cured pork jowl, Pecorino Romano cheese and black pepper) and mains like suckling lamb.
