After checking out the Italian market in south Philadelphia, eat with the locals at Villa di Roma for affordable Italian food. Rachael calls it "the place to be" for authentic meals like chicken Sicilian, escarole and "loads of pasta." Be sure to bring cash though, as they don't accept credit cards.

Fresh, seasonal fare is served on the Willamette campus at this cafe that Rachael called "one of the best-kept secrets in town." You don't have to be a student to enjoy the variety of culinary options, including pizza, deli sandwiches, Chinese dishes and local meats sliced hot off the grill.

Coos Bay's bogs are overflowing with ruby red gems, so Cranberry Sweets & More has packed its popular sugared Pate de Fruit with the tart-sweet punch of local cranberries. Not to be outdone by Oregon wine country, the treats also come in flavors like Merlot and Zinfandel - perfect edible souvenirs.

The Rogue Creamery

Some of the world's best cheese - according to their London World Cheese Award - is churning out of Rogue Creamery. Tasting the Rogue River blue cheese is a must! The Oregonzola, Blue Heaven and a rotating cast of cheddars can also be seen in production, sampled, and shipped at their factory store.

Multnomah Falls Lodge Restaurant

For a hearty breakfast and beautiful view of Multnomah Falls, stop by the Lodge restaurant for some Northwest favorites before heading out for a hike. The impressive menu includes a local favorite -- buttermilk pancakes topped with syrup and fresh huckleberries -- which Rachael said she loved.

Close to downtown Portland, Ore., McMenamins is home to a B & B, golf course, winery, several restaurants and the Power Station Pub. The pub serves lunch, dinner and a variety of microbrews made on the premises, including Hammerhead ale, which Rachael calls "sugar, spice and everything nice."

Willamette Valley Vineyards

Surrounded by mountain ranges and fertile farmland, this scenic winery has been producing some of the area's finest barrel-aged vinos since 1983. Rachael recommended the $10 tasting tour, where visitors can see the winemaking process from grape to glass.
