Top Moments of Chopped After Hours: Pizza Perfect

Amanda, Geoffrey and Alex are ready to cook with deep-dish pizza dough, rabbit escabeche, Swiss chard and pineapple cheese spread. "The dough, I think ... needs to get nailed," says host Aarón. "But as New Yorkers ... we don't eat deep dish too much," says Amanda. She and Geoffrey decide not to cook pizzas.

From the start Alex decides she's making a pan pizza, so she begins rolling the dough. "I'm embracing this pizza dough with all the love in the world," she says, "even though it's the worst dough I've ever done."

Geoffrey takes inspiration from his New England upbringing in making a pot pie. He weaves slices of dough to create a lid for the individual pies. He ends up hiding the pineapple spread in the roux, which is the base for his rabbit stew.

Amanda knows she doesn't want to make a pizza, but she can't figure out what to make. "I'm experimenting," she tells Aarón. She cuts the dough into rounds, which she fries, then bakes on a pizza stone. She also makes a sauce out of the pineapple spread, and she adds asparagus and pancetta to her dish.

Geoffrey cuts up the baked dough crusts into squares to fit over the pot pie bowls. His recipe includes the Swiss chard, and he added bacon, mustard, tarragon and dill for extra flavor. He can't stop praising his dish, which Aarón points out: "You compliment yourself as you go."

Unfortunately Alex ended up burning her first pizza. "They're all done and chatting away, and my pizza dough is not even done cooking," Alex says with just six minutes left to make a second pizza. She tops it with the pineapple cheese spread, grilled Swiss chard and rabbit.

Amanda created small rounds of pizza dough that Aarón says resemble pizzettes. She finishes her plating with a schmear of the pineapple spread on the plate and uses each pizza round as a sandwich to hold the rabbit, pancetta and asparagus.

Everyone goes in for a taste of Geoffrey's pot pie, which Alex thinks has "unexpected flavors." Aarón likes that it was very well executed. Amanda praises Alex's pizza for its play on textures, and Geoffrey says Amanda's dish had his "favorite use of the pineapple." In the end they all agree their dishes were successful, but they can't agree with Aarón's idea of opening a pizza joint together.
