Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 3 pounds chicken wings, separated at the joint
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 chipotle peppers, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 3 green onions, sliced

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a large rimmed sheet tray with nonstick spray.

Place the chicken on the sheet tray and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Bake until cooked through and crisp, about 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, butter, garlic, chipotle and ginger together in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook on low until thick and syrupy, about 15 minutes.

Add the cooked wings to the bowl of sauce. Toss until completely coated. Add to a platter and sprinkle with the green onions.

I didn't have low-sodium soy sauce so my wings were a tad bit salty but overall they were pretty good and easy to make. My sauce didn't get thick either so I added a little cornstarch and it thicken right up!

This was delicious! Just spicy enough! My sauce didn't get real thick either, and I left it on low for quite a while. Maybe next time I might try to add some cornstarch to thicken it, but we all loved it and there will be a next time. Loved that they were baked too!

I made these last night and I am going to make them again tonight! They were a big hit and easy. I read below that some people said their sauce didn't thicken and mine didn't either until I took it off the stove and let it sit. Tonight I am going to try to cook the sauce on a higher heat in hopes that it will thicken up.
