Though Bobby Flay is technically not Italian, he has a strong passion for all things Italy, even going so far as to relocate to Rome a few years ago to immerse himself in the language, the culture and, yes, the food there. He’s been dreaming of going back ever since, particularly to experience Italy as locals do. So, his longtime friend Giada De Laurentiis — who was born in Rome and considers Italian her first language — met him there for a six-week, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Bobby and Giada in Italy is a brand-new travelogue series set to launch *exclusively* on Discovery’s new streaming service, discovery+, on January 4. In the first of four episodes, they kick off their European journey the best way they know how: with gelato and pizza, of course. As they spend time in Rome, they’ll sample the Eternal City’s four classic pasta dishes (can you guess them?), meet an artisanal gelato maker and roll up their sleeves to cook in the kitchens of the area’s most-celebrated chefs. You’ll feel like you’re at the Spanish Steps with them as they soak up the culture of Rome and taste all its traditional flavors.

Then, it’s off to the countryside as Bobby and Giada drive to Tuscany to experience the bright-green rolling hills, the welcoming lifestyle of the region and the farm-fresh ingredients at their fingertips. Wait until you see how pecorino cheese is made — they’re getting a hands-on lesson — and stay tuned for their visit to Montalcino, a medieval Tuscan fortress town famous for Brunello wine.

Though most people may not be traveling anytime soon, we can surely sit back with a bowl of pasta and live vicariously through Bobby and Giada. Join them as they eat, drink and enjoy la dolce vita in Italy.

Bobby and Giada in Italy will be available to stream on discovery+ starting January 4. For more information, visit discoveryplus.com and follow us @discoveryplus.
