Grown-Up Chocolate Malted Milkshake

1 cup chocolate-covered malt balls, such as Whoppers

1/2 cup whole milk, cold 

One 1 1/2-quart container vanilla ice cream 

1 cup coffee liqueur, such as Kahlua 

1/2 cup chocolate malted milk powder, such as Ovaltine 

1 cup sweetened whipped cream, for garnish 


  1. Chill four to six tall glasses in the freezer.
  2. Add the malt balls to a blender and pulse to crush; remove about 1/4 cup for garnish. Add the milk, ice cream, coffee liqueur and malted milk powder, and blend until thick and smooth.
  3. Pour into the chilled glasses. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and the reserved crushed malt balls. Serve immediately.
