D'Angelo Bread

2 Reviews

D'Angelo is known for making incredible olive bread. But for Iron Chef Cat Cora, her wow moment came when they created the Egg's Rose: olive bread, artichoke spread and a poached egg on top. D'Angelo's bread is equally wow in French toast, fried egg sandwiches or served with a cafe au lait.

La Super-Rica Taqueria

1 Reviews

Cat Cora loves the authentic Mexican tacos at La Super Rica Taqueria in Santa Barbara, CA, on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

Talavera Azul

1 Reviews

Marcela loves the chilaquiles at Talavera Azul because they are made just like her mom's. The combination of fried tortilla chips, tangy tomatillo salsa, melted Oaxaca cheese and tart crema reminds Marcela of breakfast at home. The dish is served with a side of refried beans and parsley potatoes.

El Gallito's tortas ahogadas are not only fast but also one of Marcela Valladolid's favorite street-food dishes. A "tortas ahogadas" roughly translates to drowned sandwich, the drowning courtesy of two spicy sauces covering a hefty sandwich of tender pork. Be careful -- this food will get messy.

Sarita's Pupuseria

1 Reviews

The first time Mary Sue Milliken ate a pupusa she was wary of the name. But Sarita's boosted her confidence in the Salvadoran staple. Griddled corn cakes are stuffed with cheese and a loroco herb mixture and served with a sour curtido slaw. It's the perfect on-the-go food, as you'll savor each bite.

Fans of French dip sandwiches have Philippe Mathieu to thank. As the story goes, in 1918 Mathieu accidentally dropped a French roll into the roasting pan. The customer didn't mind the wet bun and today, neither does Wolfgang Puck, who likes his sandwich with horseradish mustard.

Philippe, The Original

4 Reviews

Fans of French dip sandwiches have Philippe Mathieu to thank. As the story goes, in 1918 Mathieu accidentally dropped a French roll into the roasting pan. The customer didn't mind the wet bun and today, neither does Wolfgang Puck, who likes his sandwich with horseradish mustard.

Calling themselves, the "little Korean-taco-truck-that-could," Kogi Korean BBQ hit the streets of L.A. on a mission to introduce the most delectable Korean tacos around. Adam Gertler noticed, calling their $2 short-rib tacos made with all-natural grass-fed beef a "flavor bomb" in your mouth.

Head to this spot for a hearty breakfast: a burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, sauteed onions, peppers and tomatoes. This beauty comes topped with chipotle salsa and super-melty cheese. Prefer your breakfast at dinner? Try the Pasta Mama dish: a deliciously simple mix of pasta and scrambled eggs.

Spago Beverly Hills

Wolfgang Puck knew what he was doing when he hired his pastry chef, Sherry Yard. On The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Wolfgang personally requests Yard's Kaiserschmarrn, an Austrian pancake served on a bed of sautéed strawberries. Like Wolfgang's farm-to-table menu, it's a "fabulous sensation."

La Scala

On The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Gail Simmons takes a moment to pay homage to the mother of all chopped salads, La Scala's Jean Leon Original Chopped Salad. As an iconic Beverly Hills restaurant from the 1950s, La Scala remains true with classic dishes including its scrumptious spaghetti Bolognese.

Crustacean Beverly Hills

Credited in 2007 as introducing Vietnamese cuisine to America by the Smithsonian Institute, Crustacean has become an icon in California's Vietnamese dining scene. Duff can't get enough of Chef Helene An's famous garlic noodles, and thousands flock every year for her equally famed roasted crabs.

Sweet Surrender

3 Reviews

On The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Giada admits being addicted to the Matterhorn Cake at Sweet Surrender. It's no wonder, as Sweet Surrender layers three rich, fudgy cakes and covers them with buttercream frosting. Oprah's also in on the act, as she's in love with their Lemon White Chocolate Cake.

Emporio Rulli-Larkspur

Emporio Rulli's dessert cases offer an array of delicious Italian treats, including mixed berry tortes and limoncello cakes. But come the holidays, Giada wants none other than the panettone Milanese. The sweet, buttery bread is unlike any other. As she says, "this is love."

Downtown Bakery and Creamery

1 Reviews

Sometimes the need for a muffin gets outweighed by the hankering for a doughnut. Luckily, Candace Nelson found the perfect baked snack that combines both at Downtown Bakery and Creamery. Along with other treats, the doughnut muffin rolled in cinnamon sugar slays the biggest snack attack.

Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe

9 Reviews

Phoenix locals don't have to travel far for some of the best fried chicken this side of the Mississippi. As Beau MacMillan recounts on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Mrs. White has a fried chicken that can even beat old Southern standbys. Live by the golden rule and tell your friends, as Beau told you.

On the Road with Guy
