Competitors Vivian Pham and Sachiko Windbiel's snow globe display celebrated the winter wonderland of the holiday season in Central Park. The team floored the judges with their detailed figurines and ethereal lighting. "You guys are just magical," said judge Amanda Freitag.
Brooklyn Bridge Wonderland
Competitors Kate Sullivan and Sara Porter's snow globe display celebrated the spirit of their hometown: Brooklyn. The judges loved the vintage look and feel of their display and were amazed by the gorgeous sugar flowers.
Celebrating Utah
Competitors Emerlie Grandy and Kylie Holt's snow globe display celebrated the natural beauty of Utah. The judges loved the details but thought the team struggled with finding a focal point.
Penguin Snow Day
Competitors Vivian Pham and Sachiko Windbiel's cake depicting penguins enjoying a day in the snow left the judges speechless. "It's a piece of art," said judge Amanga Freitag. "I don't even want to cut into it."
Fireside Cake
Judge Zac Young was impressed by the difficulty of Kate Sullivan and Sara Porter's fireside cake. "Most people would have used crisped rice cereal, but this is carved cake," he said. "It's masterful."
Sledding Snowman
The judges love the organic energy and action of Emerlie Grandy and Kylie Holt's sledding snowman cakd and praised their use of dry ice in the snowman's steaming beverage.
Mrs. Claus Makes Hot Cocoa
The details on Yamilet Hillers and Jerome Jacob's Mrs. Claus’ Night Out cake wowed the judges. "You really stepped it up," commented Amanda. "Your round 2 cake made round 1 a distant memory," said Zac.
Mrs. Claus Has a Ball
"I love how Mrs. Claus is spinning in delight," said judge Jocelyn of Kayla Lacombe Trahan and Fallon Bearb's Mrs. Claus’ Night Out cake. "It really brings the whole dancing-party vibe to another level."
Punk Rock Ugly Sweater Cake
The judges loved Amanda Robinson and Sara Baker's ugly sweater cake. Zac thought the pixelation really gave the impression of a knit sweater and he was very impressed with how they imbedded the light into the cake.
Elves vs. Reindeer
Competitors Mike Elder and Jon Heuys' round 2 display illustrated an epic paintball war between the elves and reindeer. “This looks to me like a Christmas movie,” said Amanda. “You guys are experts at giving us details.”
Family Traditions
Competitors Maddie Carlo and Crystal Hannas' round 2 display was filled with family traditions. Amanda loved the detail and texture on the tree. “The tree is the star,” she said. “Your ornaments are fantastic,” said Zac. “You really brought everything to life.”
Christmas Getaway Cake
“It looks so real,” said Amanda of Mike Elder and Jon Heuys' topsy-turvy cake.“I am from Maine and I must say: This is a wicked good moose,” said Zac.
