All the Heart-Shaped Food Items to Help You Say ‘I Love You’ on Valentine's Day

Bonbons and flowers are nice, but this year, you can say "Happy Valentine’s Day" with cereal, cinnamon rolls, pizza, pasta and more.

Is there a better way to say "I love you but I was looking for something more original than flowers or chocolate" than by giving your special person an edible item that has been rendered momentarily heart-shaped for Valentine’s Day?

If your answer to that question is "no, there really isn’t," you’re in luck. This year, you can express your admiration and/or dedication with a host of foodstuffs gone heart-shaped for the holiday.

A sampling:

Reese’s Puffs Hearts: General Mills has released a Valentine’s Day version of its Reese’s Puffs cereal with heart-shaped pieces. The limited-edition chocolate peanut butter cereal has been spotted in grocery stores and has been released in foodservice bulk-packs to college and university cafeterias as well. Hello, Freshman 15.

California Pizza Kitchen Heart-Shaped Pizza: For the first time, CPK is offering heart-shaped pizzas for Valentine’s Day. Between February 13 and 17, customers can order the pizza of their choice on a heart-shaped thin crust at no extra charge at participating locations. The pizza chain is highlighting a few other Valentine’s Day deals, too. Ah, romance and pizza.

Costco Heart-Shaped Ravioli: Seen at Costco: Nuovo Italian Four-Cheese Heart-Shaped Ravioli. Judging from the packaging shown in a photo posted by Instagrammer CostcoBuys, the “award winning,” “chef crafted” red and white ravioli features an “Italian blend of creamy ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and aged Asiago cheeses.” You can get two 20-ounce packages for $9.79. Say it with pasta.

Doughnuts from Dunkin’ and Krispy Kreme: Dunkin’s Valentine’s Day menu features heart-shaped doughnuts in a variety of flavors, including Boston Kreme and Jelly. (They’re the perfect complement to the ubiquitous chain’s limited time only square Cookie Dough & Brownie Batter Double Filled Doughnut.) More exciting still are Krispy Kreme’s Valentine’s Day conversation heart doughnuts, in pretty pastel-frosted colors and featuring messages like “Love,” “Call Me” and “I Heart You.” Donut pass these by.

Chick-fil-A Heart-Shaped Nugget Box: “Nothing says, ‘I love you’ like nuggets,” Chick-fil-A asserts. That contention, presumably, is what has led the chicken chain to offer a 30-count nugget order in a heart-shaped container for you to present to your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day. You can also give your crush an order of 10 Chick-n-Minis (bite-size nugget sandwiches) or six chocolate chip cookies in heart-shaped containers – in participating restaurants through February 28 while supplies last. Unless you chicken out ...

Cinnabon Heart-Shaped CinnaPack: Cinnabon, purveyor of sticky sweetness and supplier of intoxicating smells, is offering a Valentine’s Day delivery option featuring either 16 BonBites or 9 MiniBon Rolls in a heart-shaped, “Happy Valentine’s Day”-labeled container. Available for a limited time, through February 20, both options come with extra frosting – so you can be serious about sweets for your sweetie.

Love is definitely in the air – and hearts are everywhere you look.
