IKEA is capitalizing on the candle craze in a really on-brand way. The furniture giant recently announced that certain shoppers will be able to get their hands on a Swedish meatball-scented candle.
However, these unique candles won’t simply be sold at any IKEA outpost. Instead, the novelty item will be included in an upcoming “Store in a Box” gift set created in celebration of the tenth anniversary of IKEA's loyalty program, which is known as IKEA Family.
As you may have guessed, the candle was designed to smell just like popular Swedish meatballs found in IKEA food courts in the United States and abroad. The item has also been named Huvudroll, which is Swedish for leading character.
And while the candle’s moniker may suggest that it’s the star of the “Store in a Box,” other gifts will be included inside as well, but are currently being kept under wraps. Much like the interestingly scented candle, the other presents are expected to be a nod to some of the furniture chain’s other popular items.
In a statement, a representative for IKEA would only say that the boxes will be “a surprise and delight” filled with “the best, more recognizable” pieces of an IKEA store.

If you want to snag a “Store in a Box” for yourself, you first need to be a participant in IKEA’s loyalty program. However, not even IKEA Family members are guaranteed a box. For a shot at nabbing one, you need to enter for a chance to win from August 6 to August 22. Per IKEA’s website, 986 winners will be chosen.
But that’s not all! An additional 1,925 runners up will still get a candle, though they won’t win the rest of the items in the grand prize box.
Aside from the sweepstakes, IKEA Family members will also have a chance to enjoy many other deals in the food court and the showroom.
IKEA made headlines back in May when the retailer added a Lingonberry Pulled Pork Sandwich to its food court menus.
