What Is Hepatitis A?

Hepatitis A is a virus that can cause liver disease. The symptoms can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months. If you’re exposed to the hepatitis A virus, illness usually occurs between 15-50 days after exposure. Symptoms include fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stool. In about five percent of cases, hepatitis A infection can progress to liver failure. If you think you may have eaten any recalled product, consult with your healthcare provider or local health department.

What To Do If You Find a Recalled Product

The FDA recommends checking your freezer for any of the recalled product. If you find it in your freezer, do not eat it. Either discard it or bring it to the store for a refund. If you find a product with a different lot code or purchase date, then that product has not been affected and is not subject to the recall.
