12 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature

4 cups confectioners' sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


  1. Beat the cream cheese and butter in a large bowl with a mixer on medium-high speed until creamy, about 2 minutes. Reduce the mixer speed to low; beat in half the confectioners' sugar until combined. Beat in the remaining confectioners' sugar, the salt and vanilla.
  2. Increase the speed to medium high and beat until smooth and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
