Our Best Grilled Pizza Recipes

Trust us — homemade pizza is well worth the effort, especially when it's made on the grill. Thanks to your grill, the crust will get crispy, crunchy and have a nice touch of smokiness that makes the whole pizza extra delicious (and if you need help choosing a grill, see our top pick here). Plus, pizza makes for a fun change of pace from burgers and hot dogs when you're looking for a main dish to make on the grill. These recipes include everything from meaty options to veggie-packed recipes, plus those that combine the best of both worlds, like this grilled salad pizza. The grill adds a smoky flavor to the pizza crust, and as an added bonus you don’t need to heat up your kitchen. If you don’t have a pizza pan you can stretch the dough on a flat baking sheet.

2-Ingredient Grilled Pizza Dough

This pizza dough comes together in just ten minutes, with no rising or resting time but it still has a complex flavor and chewy texture that mimics the real thing. The yogurt in the dough helps make it tender and pliable so it's easy to roll and shape and won't fall apart on the grill. As a bonus, you can use any plain Greek yogurt you have on hand—from full-fat to non-fat (though full-fat yogurt will yield a slightly more tender crust).

Shrimp is a winning topping for summer pizza, especially when paired with red onion, cherry tomato and a bit of feta. While you could grill it up for a main dish, this also makes a great appetizer for a cookout or barbecue. Sprinkle with parsley just before serving for a beautiful presentation!

Grilled Stuffed Crust Pizza

The only downside of making pizza in the summer is having to crank up the oven. Unless you make it on the grill! And it doesn't have to be hard. Cooking the dough on a rimmed baking sheet keeps it from sticking. Slipping the pizza onto the grill grates at the end makes for an extra-crispy crust. While we were at it, we stuffed the crust with mozzarella — because we could.
