Raisins 'n' Spicy Hot Oatmeal

Cayenne pepper gives this anything-but-ordinary oatmeal a serious wake up call.

1/2 cup quick-cooking oats

2 tablespoons raisins

2 tablespoons sliced almonds, chopped

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon hemp seeds

1 teaspoon oat flour

1/2 teaspoon coconut sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground allspice

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/8 teaspoon salt


  1. Bring 3/4 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. 
  2. Meanwhile, place the oats, raisins, almonds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flour, sugar, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper and salt in a small serving bowl; mix well. 
  3. Stir the boiling water into the oats mixture. Cover and let stand until the oats soften, about 3 minutes.
