Teenagers are taking over the Chopped Kitchen! Four talented young cooks bravely attempt a challenge that often throws off trained professionals. Watching the first round, featuring fish filets and a sugary frozen treat, the judges are amazed by the level of maturity, poise and skill: And it's a very difficult choice deciding which rising culinary star will not get a chance to move on. There are some fun items in the second round baskets: cotton candy and French-fried onions. Then the two terrific teens who make it to the dessert round, and find movie-theater popcorn in the basket, put on a great show.
Four James Beard-nominated chefs use their exceptional culinary skills to make an hors d'oeuvre featuring instant ramen noodles. Then, these high-end chefs have to make a five star seafood dinner with a ridiculously low budget. The finalists learn that creating a dish featuring one ingredient, prepared two different ways, using items from three aisles, is not as easy as 1, 2, 3. The winner is awarded up to $20,000 in the Triple G Shopping Spree.
The Kitchen is squeezing out the last drop of the season's star produce -- citrus! Geoffrey Zakarian braises a bright-and-flavorful Citrus Chicken Tagine and Katie Lee cooks up a Pistachio-Crusted Cod with Citrus Salsa. Jeff Mauro makes a classic Greek Lemon Chicken Soup while Chef Pati Jinich bakes her top-of-the-line Triple Lime Bundt Cake. Next, the hosts share a fresh guide to the best new citruses to try, then Jeff and Katie zest to impress with a Citrus and Chocolate Sundae.
