The Sweetest Siblings Moments From 'Baking Championship: Next Gen'

And by better, we mean uplifting, touching and soulful — thanks to 12 teams of two siblings ages 8 to 14. It turns out, we can learn more than just baking skills from these kids. Ahead, check out our favorite heartfelt moments from Season 1 of Baking Championship: Next Gen.

Not only are Genesis and Akbar excellent bakers, but they're also talented singers. In fact, singing and harmonizing are one of their family's favorite pastimes. Eager to hear their amazing voices, judges Duff Goldman and Kardea Brown made a deal with the brother-sister duo that if they liked their cupcakes, then Genesis and Akbar should sing. After the judges were impressed by their strawberry lemon flavors, the siblings sang a snippet of "This Little Light of Mine" that garnered applause from everyone in the Baking Championship: Next Gen kitchen.

Sisters by blood, best friends by choice, Harper and Holland’s relationship is beyond adorable. The besties call themselves “the bow girls” while on Baking Championship: Next Gen. Harper always wears two bows on either side of her head, while Holland likes to switch between one "unicorn" bow and bows clipped to her braids. “Harper is my best friend and my favorite person on planet earth," Holland said. "If there was an option to tell anyone a problem or secret, she would be the first person I would go to. She’s amazing.”

Maci and Emmett paid a very sweet tribute to their late mamaw by making her raspberry pie. Maci used to regularly bake the pie with her grandmother and once won a ribbon for it at the Okanogan County Fair. The siblings both carry photos of themselves with their grandma in their pockets so they can always remember her.

Rocker sisters Jovie and Lenore get their love of music naturally. Not only are they in a band called Seth Thomas (Jovie plays electric bass and Lenore rocks out on the drums), but their dad is a musician, and their grandpa owns a guitar shop. The sisters honored their family's history with music by decorating their grandmother's cherry and cream cheese pie with a guitar-shaped sugared doughnut and a music note.

Abby and Cameron got a chance to show off their expert moves during a special dance break that earned the winning team an extra five minutes in the day's competition. Cameron took charge, demonstrating his ability to perform a perfect sprinkler and double arm wave, and impressed the judges enough to bring home the win. “I’m very happy I won that for us. I locked in,” Cameron said. Not needing the extra time, the siblings very sweetly gave the five minutes to their fellow competitors, Leila and Melody.

Michael and Liam prepared an apt team name before coming on Baking Championship: Next Gen: The Brotherly Bakers. They are the oldest and second oldest in a family of four brothers and show their support for one another throughout the entire competition. When Liam accidentally added too much flour and water to his pie crust, Michael consoled his big brother and reassured him that everything would work out.

Ten-year-old Taanvi and 8-year-old Kavya might be the most energetic sibling duo of the Baking Championship: Next Gen crew. In a moment of celebratory excitement, the two showed off their hand-eye coordination in a quick game of "Double Double This That" as a reminder to us all that moments of fun are essential when working hard.

Younger sister Melody is all in when it comes to baking. After all, she's been doing it since pre-K, and it's been her dream to be on Food Network since second grade. Leila proudly supports her younger sister's ambitions. “I really want to win this baking competition for Melody because I know how much it’ll mean to her,” said Leila.

Abigail and Kenneth live on a farm in Geneseo, Illinois, where their family grows crops like corn and soybeans. They also own an orchard with fruit trees. On Baking Championship: Next Gen, the siblings embraced their rural lifestyle by decorating their lemon raspberry cake with a quaint farm scene that included a tractor and a cornfield.

After garnishing their cupcakes with a slightly too-big lemon slice, Amelia and Clara came up with a plan to make their next skills test, a pie, as cute (and edible) as possible. They put their competitive spirits to work to create a three-berry pie with a lattice fence, a hummingbird and tulip decorations inspired by their trip to the Netherlands. The result was a charming-looking pie that impressed Duff and Kardea.

Identical twins Norah and Olivia recently decided to cut their hair exactly the same way — and teachers at school started mixing them up! So, Olivia started wearing a headband so everyone would know who's who. Luckily for Duff and Kardea, Olivia wears the headband while baking, too, so there aren't any mix-ups.
