Food Network shares how to make ginger beer at home. To a pan, add 1 cup (about 6 ounces) of chopped fresh skin-on ginger, one cup turbinado sugar, one tablespoon chopped crystalized ginger, four allspice berries and two cloves. Add two cups water, stir, bring to a simmer, turn off the heat, cover and let steep for 45 minutes. Next strain the ginger liquid into an ice bath. When it’s cool, pour it over ice with about four cups of carbonated water or seltzer. Mix together and enjoy. You can also add a shot of dark rum if you want a stronger ginger beer.
