Belmont Stakes organizers tried for years to come up with the right cocktail and, after a couple of failed attempts called the White Carnation and the Belmont Breeze, they finally landed on the Belmont Jewel in 2011.
Combine 2 ounces lemonade, 1 1/2 ounces bourbon and 1 ounce pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a short glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
