Deck your holiday table with edible Christmas lights! Blogger Beth Klosterboer of hungryhappenings.com came up with the bright idea: You just form cookie balls (made from crushed Oreos and cream cheese) into the shape of bulbs, then cover them in melted candy melts and coarse sugar. The finishing touch: silver bases made of Tootsie Rolls and coated with luster dust, and a wire of licorice lace!

Take your chocolate chip cookies to the next level with these perfectly chewy coffee-toffee cookies. The espresso powder adds a hint of coffee-flavor to the dough, while the generous addition of dark chocolate chips and chopped toffee candy bars provides a complexity of textures in each bite. Decorate with a drizzle of melted white chocolate and colorful sprinkles to celebrate any holiday or milestone throughout the year.

This recipe is sponsored by Truist Financial. Make your cookie platter vertical (and extra-impressive!) with this 3D Christmas tree forest. Chilling the dough after it has been cut helps the shapes stay sharp during baking.

These adorable cookies resemble small, twirled mounds of pasta, complete with a sweet dusting of sanding sugar and white sprinkles in the place of Parmesan. They’re made with a pasta-cutting tool known as a chitarra (“guitar” in Italian), a wooden frame with metal strings stretched across it that looks something like a stringed instrument. It’s typically used to cut thin, square-edged pasta noodles but it works wonders with our tender, enriched cookie dough to create unique pasta-shaped cookies. Dipped in an amaretto glaze, they’re a perfect Italian-inspired treat that will delight pasta lovers and cookie fans alike. Don’t have a chitarra? You can use a pasta roller or hand-cut the dough as well (see Cook’s Note).

These are the familiar cookies, with crispy edges and a slightly soft middle. Superfine sugar gives them their crunchiness. The small amount of baking powder ensures that they puff just a little without spreading too much and losing their shape.

Almond cookies like these are thought to resemble coins, making them particularly popular as a symbol of good fortune during the Chinese New Year. Traditional recipes are made with lard and flavored with almond extract. We used butter and almond flour in these to boost the nutty flavor and create a crumbly texture similar to pecan sandies. Enjoy them year-round, particularly with a cup of tea or coffee.

Move over, cookie cutters! These cheerful and eye-catching cookies are made by piping buttery dough into the shape of festive Christmas trees. A rich cocoa dough forms the tree trunks, while soft ruffles of buttery green dough become charming boughs. Decorated with white candy garlands and bright sprinkles and nonpareils, they’re sure to be a standout on a cookie plate and are perfect for swapping and gifting.

Double the chocolate, double the fun, right? Well, here the fun--and the flavor--have been amped up with toasty-sweet halva swirled right into the batter. Topped off with some flaky sea salt, these cookies are all-around magic.
