1 (6 1/8-ounce) can solid Italian white tuna packed in water, drained

1/2 cup mayonaise

1/2 cup deglazing liquid

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste

2 garlic cloves, mashed to a paste with 1/8 teaspoon salt

Pinch freshly grated lemon zest

Hot sauce, to taste

1 tablespoon drained capers


  1. In a blender or food processor blend tuna, mayonaise, deglazing liquid lemon juice, garlic paste, zest, and hot pepper sauce and stir in capers and salt to taste. Sauce may be made 2 days ahead and chilled, covered. Thin sauce to desired consistency with water.;
