Michael and Charlene have invested their life savings into their waffle-themed food truck, but have yet to see the success they need to grow their business and support their combined family, while best friends and culinary school buddies Robert and Mike believe that their sandwich-based concept would be a natural fit in a mall and could provide them with the culinary success they've been chasing. Only one team will win a spot in a Kelso, Wash., food court.
Native to Boston, MA, Chef Nahika is owner of the first Haitian food truck in Texas Kreyól Korner Caribbean Cuisine! She began her career as a scientist, then moved to education, and now a Haitian Culinarian conquering and fulfilling her passion for food. Ultimately, moving to Austin was the drive behind the decision of tapping into her hobby as a full time career. Although Austin was considered one of the food capitals, there was little to no Caribbean influence in the culinary scene. She felt a responsibility as a Haitian woman to create the Caribbean flare and share her Haitian roots to the city. So she embarked on launching the food truck in Austin and providing an island experience through our food, paintings, and eclectic music. Her business has been included in the Top 100 in Austin, featured on the Food Network multiple times, and has received other spectacular accolades. She hopes to continue to be a pillar and evolve Hatiain cuisine and culture to be recognized beyond media’s typical portrayal.
