Robert Irvine travels to Asheville, N.C., to compete in the annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown. He and his team face off against three of the best food trucks in the state. With a $1,500 budget, the mission is to prepare enough food for 500 people and use beer in every dish, and the truck that makes the most money wins. Anything can happen as food truck novice Robert competes against seasoned teams who cook in food trucks every day.
Guy Fieri gives food truck families the ultimate road test by challenging them to shop, cook and present their dishes together as a team. First, they must make their truck's best seller while taking a tag-team shop, where each family member shops in 60-second sprints as part of a four-minute grocery relay race. Then, the remaining two teams make their personal food truck favorite while also incorporating a dish style and condiment determined by two spinning food truck wheels. The winning food truck family will roll out of Flavortown with up to $20,000.
In their first challenge, the Finalists create and present a portable version of their favorite brunch dish to Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay. Then, guest judge Richard Blais pairs the Finalists into teams to create a social media promo video for their own food trucks. These videos will be shown to food truck enthusiasts, who will get food from the truck whose offerings they most want to taste.
Guy Fieri knows that food trucks have surged in popularity recently, so he's bringing in three teams of food truck chefs to battle it out for Flavortown superiority. First, a brand-new game has the teams splitting up to shop separate halves of the store for their bestselling dish. Then the chefs must shop for their best handheld duo using only their bare hands! Ultimately, one food truck duo will serve up enough delicious food to zoom past the others and earn a shopping spree worth up to $20,000.
The Chopped Kitchen is taken over by food truck chefs, steering toward success! The first basket contains ingredients from Chinese and Greek cuisines, while a classic American street food meets a fun-to-say Korean dish in the entree basket. The two food truck chefs facing off in the dessert round work with unripe fruit and a much-loved sweet spread.
Which food truck chef will fortune shine upon in this competition of determined mobile meal vendors? There's a traffic jam at the fryer as the chefs attempt to make outstanding appetizers with two proteins. In the entree basket, the chefs find a New England sandwich and a Mexican pepper. The final two food truck chefs left in the fight receive dessert nachos in the last basket.
Three awesome food truck teams are rolling into Flavortown Market to show off the food that made their trucks a hit. First, Guy Fieri challenges the teams to cook their bestseller, but they must incorporate instant coffee and doughnuts into the recipe. In a surprise twist, the team that wins round one gets an automatic $10,000 and the chance to take on GGG champs and food truck icons the Billionaire Burger Boyz. In round two, the teams must divide and conquer as each partner shops a different half of the store for the ingredients to make their secret menu special. Whoever wins this off-the-hook showdown will claim a guaranteed $10,000!
