In this dessert round, the judges must use spiced German liqueur, lemon rolls, rock candy and ginger. Ted Allen asks if they can upstage the rock stars who cooked this basket in the episode, and Aarón says, "Absolutely — even with a couple of singing numbers if you'd like." Alex says with a chuckle, "I just really want to get to the cooking and the normal part."

Alex decides to make a swirled ice cream sandwich and heads straight for the ice cream machine. "I'm using the lemon cake in this one and I used the blue candy in the other, so I'm using half the basket in the ice cream machine," she brags. "I'm going to try to make this look like how I saw it in my head, which generally — as any chef knows — never works."

Chris realizes that he accidentally put cornstarch in his microwave cake instead of sugar. He remakes the batter and finally gets the cakes cooking, but he runs into another roadblock. "I can't see inside this microwave. I have no idea what's going on in there," he says, hoping his dish bakes in the three and a half minutes left.

As it always is in the Chopped kitchen, baking something was a risky move for Aarón because he wasn't sure how long to keep his cakes in the oven. "You want to open one of these and see if the inside is warm ... it's a good indication that the inside is cooked," he says. Ted asks if it's cooked and Aarón replies: "I don't know. What do I look like — a chef?"

During the final moments, everyone seems to have trouble getting their food on the plate. Aarón burns himself on his cake pan, Alex accidentally pipes some of her ice cream onto the table and Chris is racing to finish his last-minute dish. "Come on, Chris. You can do it!" Aarón shouts as everyone finally finishes their plates.

Despite a near disaster with Chris' cake and a few other scares, everyone plates something eye-catching and flavorful. Alex's ice cream sandwich is a hit because of its flavor balance and texture. "You're a magician," Aarón tells her. Chris says he finds Aarón's cake "very rich." And Chris' cake manages to impress as well. "I can't believe it: a microwave cake! It's really good." Alex says.
