You've probably seen precooked pork rinds for sale, but did you know you can get them for the microwave? Food Network's Unwrapped takes you behind the scenes to show you how bacon's snack food cousin is made. Pork rinds start out as dried pork skin cut into squares and seasoned before being packaged for use in the microwave.
In this episode of Unwrapped, the process of making Salem, Oregon based Kettle Chips is highlighted. Kettle Chips seeks to simulate the way that kettle style chips were originally made during the 1800s. The process starts with slicing potatoes. They are then dropped in hot oil. Each 300lb batch is cooked by hand. The kettle cooked chips are then put through a sorter process, seasoned and bagged.
