You know that old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, it turns out that it’s also true for refrigerators. Who’s to say what kinds of fresh ingredients, random leftovers and expired condiments someone has lurking in the fridge? The magnets, photos and artwork plastered on the outside of fridges across the country may look wholesome and inviting, but the situation inside could be another story. Enter: Raid the Fridge, an all-new series premiering Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 10|9c.
Hosted by food podcaster Dan Ahdoot, this fast-paced, action-packed competition challenges four top-notch chefs to work a little culinary magic when faced with mystery fridges before them. They’ll choose one to cook from blindly, and as always, looks can be deceiving. There’s no telling whether the contents of a fridge belonging to a family of four would be better — or perhaps worse! — stocked with quality ingredients than that of a bachelor. Chefs will be forced to make do with what they find inside, much like us home cooks do every night when it’s time to make dinner.
Judges Jamika Pessoa and Jordan Andino know food and know how to have fun; they’ll be on hand to judge the chefs’ creations and ultimately decide which is worthy of the ultimate prize: a fridge full of $10,000.
Mark your calendars for the premiere of Raid the Fridge on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 10|9c.
