The Martinez

Getting reviews...
The Martinez cocktail blends the boozy sweetness of a Manhattan with the dry, floral qualities of a martini. Orta sticks to the classic recipe by using Old Tom Gin, a sweeter, aged variety that was created to cater to 19th-century tastes.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a cocktail pitcher, combine gin, sweet vermouth, a bar-spoon's worth of maraschino liqueur, and orange bitters (Orta uses 3 light dashes instead of 2 heavy dashes). Fill the pitcher with ice cubes. Place the cocktail spoon down the side of the pitcher; then run the spoon around the edge of the pitcher quickly but gently to stir, about 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe or martini glass. Garnish with an amarena cherry.
