Whenever I go to a festival and smell sausage, peppers and onions cooking on the grill, I am immediately drawn to it. This slider bake is an easy way to recreate that summer favorite at home, and it is so kid-friendly as well.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the pepper and onions and cook until tender, stirring often, about 8 minutes. Add the sausage, and use a wooden spoon to break up in the pan. Cook until sausage is browned and fully cooked, about 8 more minutes. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt and Italian parsley. Remove from the heat.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and grated garlic. Set aside.
  4. Place the bottom half of the slider rolls in the prepared baking dish. Top with the provolone slices, overlapping where necessary. Top with the sausage mixture, then the banana peppers and mozzarella. Top with the remaining slider rolls.
  5. Use a spoon to ladle the melted butter over the tops of the slider rolls. Top with the Parmesan.
  6. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Serve immediately.

Cook’s Note

Mix pesto or Calabrian chiles into mayonnaise for a dipper.
