This refreshing mocktail includes calamansi, a citrus fruit commonly used in Filipino and Southeast Asian cooking that tastes like a cross between a mandarin orange, lemon and lime. We combined the juice of this aromatic fruit with tart cherry juice, which has been linked to better sleep and has anti-inflammatory properties. A touch of agave nectar adds balance and has a lower glycemic index than many other added sugars. The drink gets its effervescence from ginger ale or prebiotic soda, which provides tummy-pleasing bubbles.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Fill a pint glass with ice. Add the calamansi juice, cherry juice and agave nectar and stir to combine. Top with the ginger ale. Serve immediately.

Cook’s Note

This drink is on the tart side, so if you prefer it sweeter, add 1 to 2 teaspoons more agave nectar, or until your desired sweetness is achieved.
