This Carajillo Spritz reimagines the classic Spanish coffee cocktail, which is believed to have originated from Spanish soldiers who mixed coffee and spirits for courage (coraje). Here, the rich, sweet notes of Licor 43 are paired with cardamom-infused cold brew and a fizzy seltzer finish, creating a refreshing yet warming drink that’s perfect for a brunch or after-dinner indulgence. The aromatic cardamom and orange peel add a fragrant twist, making this spritz feel both vibrant and comforting.

Directions
Crack the cardamon pods with a rolling pin. Toast the pods in a small skillet over medium-high heat until light golden and fragrant, 2 minutes. Let cool slightly.
Add the cardamom pods to the cold brew. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
Strain the cold brew. Combine 2 ounces of the spiced cold brew, the Licor 43 and orange zest in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until slightly foamy, about 30 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled tall glass and top with cold seltzer. Dust lightly with ground cardamom.
