A negroni is all booze (equal parts gin, Campari and sweet vermouth), but we flipped the switch and made an alcohol-free version of the classic cocktail. Bitterness comes from the bottled nonalcoholic aperitivo and vermouth. And to mimic the botanical flavor of gin, we add a touch of grenadine for sweetness and tonic water for a hint of floral effervescence. Do not forget the orange peel (a classic garnish for this drink) – simply use a vegetable peeler to shave a thin piece of peel from a fresh navel orange.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Stir the nonalcoholic gin, aperitivo, vermouth and grenadine in a shaker with ice until chilled. Strain into an old-fashioned glass and add 1 large ice cube. Pour over the tonic and garnish with an orange peel.
