1 cup butter, softened (I use 1 stick oleo and 1 stick butter)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Candied cherries, sliced
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, using either an electric mixer or by hand, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg and then mix in the flour in 3 additions. Fill cookie press with dough and press out cookies into desired shapes onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Place a sliced candied cherry in the center of each cookie. Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove immediately to cooling racks.
