Oven-Fried Green Tomatoes

1/2 stick butter or margarine

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

4 green tomatoes, sliced

1 cup self-rising flour


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Melt the butter in a baking pan. Stir in the salt and pepper. Coat the sliced tomatoes with flour and place them in the pan. Bake on the lower rack of the oven for 8 minutes. Then turn the oven up to broil in order to brown the tomato slices.
